Injection and control systems are used to maintain flow of produced fluids from subsea wells to host facilities and onwards. They must operate effectively through life of field, from installation to decommissioning.
Should these systems restrict or block the implications are extremely serious, affecting the health and safety of offshore personnel and the integrity of plant. In the worst cases costing millions in lost revenue through effectively ending production and leading to loss of access to hydrocarbon reserves.
Blockages can be prevented and the basic goal must be Blockage Avoidance in Subsea Injection and Control Systems. The BASICS JIP have identified a Systematic Approach with the ultimate goal of achieving a “Successful Life of Field System Operation”, enhancing the safety and welfare of offshore personnel and guaranteeing that crucial energy supplies are maintained to consumers world-wide.
